Pause and Reflect Music commissioned multiple projects for their two-day online festival, DualityFest. This included the design and animation of interstitial segments used to provide smooth transitions between performances. Additionally, I created a 60-second hype trailer to promote the festival and generate excitement among potential attendees. The project also involved developing visual effects and footage used as video backgrounds, enhancing the visual experience during several performances. Synchronization of these elements combined to create a cohesive and engaging visual narrative throughout the event, elevating the overall viewer experience.

My concept for the event trailer was to create a seamless looping background that visually represented the event’s central theme of darkness and light in music. I used alternating colors to symbolize the contrast and camera motion to represent the interplay between these two elements, reflecting the festival’s exploration of diverse musical genres and moods. This visual approach not only highlights the duality present in the music but also sets a dynamic and engaging tone for the entire event, inviting the audience to delve into the contrasting worlds of light and dark sounds.

To create the loop I began by modeling the Pause and Reflect logo in 3d. I then duplicated the logo multiple times and aligned these copies along an axis to establish a continuous path. Precisely animating the camera to fly through the negative space in the logo created the effect of an infinitely long tunnel using only 300 frames of animation. The result is a stylish exploration of the label’s design elements and a mesmerizing introduction to the festivals themes that succeeds in generating advanced buzz and anticipation with a high number of shares on social media.

I also designed and animated a package of interstitial segments to introduce and conclude performances throughout the festival. These segments featured tailored variations for both days, crafted to reflect and enhance each days theme. To achieve this, I used After Effects to animate text and and logos onto stock footage carefully chosen from my personal collection.

Finally, I created a series of 20-second video clips, in both light and dark variations, using my stock footage collection and the Signal plugin for After Effects. These clips were designed to provide a versatile and visually appealing backdrop for a range of performances over the two-day festival.
